Nutrition and Hydration week habits to form

Having good Nutritional and Hydration habits are far beyond just maintaining a healthy weight. Keeping good habits means improving your well-being, your ability to fight off illness or diseases, and to increase your energy level. Having good nutrition and hydration habits also means that your body is receiving all its needed vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

 

Here are some things to develop to maintain good nutrition and hydration habits: 

 

Nutrition:

 

1. Eat meals at a slow pace: 

By eating your food slowly (aka chewing your food longer) it becomes more broken down and easier to digest. It also gives your brain more time to signal to your stomach that it should begin to digest. 

 

2. Eat until feeling full and not more:

Eating until feeling full instead of overeating gives the body the right amount of food to gain the necessary nutrients, keeps the gastrointestinal organs from overworking, and keeps you from feeling tired.

 

3. Avoid trigger foods : common food triggers are 

  • Fried foods
  • Caffeine 
  • Fatty foods 
  • Process foods
  • Carbonated drinks 

 

Hydration: 

  1. Drink at least 8 cups of water per day 
  2. Limit the intake of tea and coffee to 2 cups per day 
  3. Reduce alcohol and sugar drinks
